Clare Connor

England All Rounder

&

Vice Captain

[1999] Clare has been appointed Vice Captain of the England team to meet India during this English summer.

[1997] At a mere 20 years of age, Clare is one of the most promising players on the English scene. Although selected principally as a bowler, the fact that Clare opens the batting for her county, Sussex, shows England's depth in that department. She represented Junior England for six years.

I have watched her play a number of county games this season (1997) as well as the internationals. As a batsman, she uses her feet to particular advantage and is not frightened to hit the ball in the air if the situation demands. Usually coming in at number 9 for England, she may well prove valuable when quick runs are required. So far her batting figures for England fall far short of what she is capable!

On the bowling front, I feel the Indian wickets may well prove to her liking, with her slower style of swing and spin.
