Welcome to the wonderful world of

Mr. Alexander.
You can't catch butterflies,
if there's a hole in the net...
You can't really catch butterflies anyway,
all you can really do is wave the net,
close to them...
a little ahead, sometimes behind...
and hope that they simply choose to fly into it.
Butterflies are like love that way,
you can't really force it,
or even really entrap it..
you can only make a big warm cozy place for it in your soul,
and hope that it chooses to fly on in,
and stay a while.
But don't let it ever fool you,
a while is all you really get,
with love.
After that,
if you're really lucky,
it changes,
kinda back into a chrysalis,
and you must forever remember the beauty of it's gossamer wings
and impossible fragile being.
And know that they're still there,
inside somewhere,
inside the coccoon,
hoping to survive the real world..
where gossamer rips and tears and shreds,
in the very breeze.
And you grow to love the cocoon,
believing the butterfly to still be there.
But that's only if you're very lucky.
Most of the time,
life, apathy, stress and being taken for granted
tears at the chrysalis,
and reveals the butterfly to be long gone...
Sometimes,
that's still enough.
Sometimes it's not.
The trick is,
to try to fall in love with the coccoon,
with the chrysalis...
and to view IT as the reality,
and the butterfly to be the aberration.
But that's no more simple
than catching butterflies
with a hole in your net.
